OUT OF MIND, OUT OF SIGHT
This painting is about not seeing that which is important. Diving into a swirl of waves, only afterwards do we notice there is a whale – two!
Living near the beach in Australia, the annual whale migration brings such a sense of joy. I wanted to capture the feeling of diving into the ocean, the life envigorating feeling of the water - the sense that the whales must have as they cavort their way up the coast. Me following their plumes of mystical spray.
Dragged back from the brink of extinction, our whales still suffer significant threats... may we be able to continue to laugh with joy as we spot them for years to come.
