One evening as I sat meditating on a cliff in the bush, a Powerful Owl swept over my head on silent wings – I almost fell off my perch! (I thought it was a ghost) So huge and strong and silent.
I painted this Powerful Owl to bring awareness to their increasing loss of habitat. He is Australia's largest owl and needs big hollow trees to nest. As more and more trees are cleared, nesting sites are getting harder to find. There used to be so many of them when I was a child.
Parts of this owl – like his species, fading, disappearing away.
