Zambi is a wildlife retreat for Australia’s ‘unwanted’ big cats. I go there to paint.
Masai the lion was destined to be a film star. 'He didn't have the right personality though' in the words of one of his doting keepers (!) Such intensity in his gaze as I made my studies for this painting.
Painted with watercolour on canvas - parts of the painting are - like his species - fading, disappearing away ...
